Civilization 5, a Life Lesson

The last time I talked about gaming I was extremely serious and I made it a point to tell you that if you are gaming as much or more than you are working you need to seek professional help.  If you find yourself in this position, click here.

For my birthday, my dear wife bought me Civilization 5.  The Civilization series is by far one of my favorite games in the world.  The reasons why it is my favorite is simple.

It requires critical thinking.  You have to think through the costs and benefits of being a warrior or a diplomat or an isolationist.

It requires planning.  If you are going to go to war, you have to plan out how that is going to play out.  Can you win fast?  Do you have the industrial capacity to beat the enemy?

Do you have superior forces and can you attack strength with weakness?

Do you have the courage to finish the campaign?

This translates well into life.

Do you have what it takes to achieve your goals?

Do you have a vision of what you want how to accomplish it?

Can you attack weak areas of your life that need to be improved with strength?

Lots of questions, no answers.

Think it over?
