Rights and Duties

“The modern state no longer has anything but rights; it does not recognize duties any more. ” -Georges Bernanos

This is unfortunately a true statement.  As my friend Jenn, put it, we used to be a resourceful, scrappy and independent people.  At this point, we no longer are.

There are some of us that are, although we take it through the untapped frontiers of the the Internet.

I’m not going to wax political, because ultimately is all that is human and psychological in our country.   Our government, our inability as a nation to get ourselves in gear is a macrocosm of the microcosm of the humanity when it is in conflict with his/herself.

The reason why is that part of us are wanting to seize our future, the other part of us wants to wait for the government or some other external force to take care of us.

We recognize that we have rights in our country, but we fail to recognize our duties to ourselves, our fellowman, our country and our values.

Once recognize the balance of rights and duties again, we will be back on track.
