Life Changes When You Change

Have you ever met someone, that regardless of what happened, the glass was always half-empty?  They were just a chronic whiner, nothing ever went right for them?  Regardless of if it was good they would still find something to bitch about?  I’m not talking about having high standards either.  I’m talking about an individual whose paradigms are so frozen that regardless of the point you make to them, they can’t see the upside?  You have and I have.

In fact, I used to be that person.  As you can see though, I’ve changed.  I have my moments, but I’ve changed.

But enough about me.

You and I both know intuitively that life changes when the individual changes.  You’ve seen not just the chronic whiner you’ve seem them become the chronic sicky.  They drain their life energy on worry and externalizing rather than taking decisive, constructive action to resolve their issues.  Eventually what happens to them is that the worry and stress created for themselves gives way to actual physical sickness.  Eventually, depending on the person’s constitution, worry will lead to death.

So what can you do to change so that life changes for you.  Here are 5 things you can start doing right away.

Count your blessings.

If you believe in God or not, I don’t care, look at all of the good things you have in life.  And you’ll start to have a better time of things shortly.  Choosing to see the good things that we do have empowers us with fresh energy to take action.

Distance yourself from negative people

You may simply be caught in the tractor pull of too many negative influences.  I talk about this in detail in Life Triage, but I will comment on it here as well.  You may be hanging around with the wrong crowd.  Negative thinking like positive thinking is contagious.  Look at the microculture around you and ask.  Are these people good for me?  If not, it may be time to have some important conversations.

Get positive people in your life.

When I became a positive person I measured positivity by the level of levity they had as well as there resolve.  I’m wrong in this.  You can have positive people who are stoic, or high energy.  I can’t tell you who to get into your life, but start with peers and then gather mentors around yourself.  This is one of the most important things you can do to effect life change.

Reading great content from the Ancient Traditions is a great place to start.  Also reading solid self improvement material will help as well.  Don’t like to read… then LISTEN!  Audiobooks are relatively cheap, and besides, isn’t any investment into your own sanity a good thing?

Do something about the situation.  If you have to extract yourself from a bad situation then do it.  If you need to have some important conversations with people, then do it.  If you need training to get that job you want, go for it.  If you need to cultivate self-control, do it.

These 5 things done in combination, consistently will cause a steady upward spiral of growth.  I know its been said in many times and in many ways, but sometimes we just need to hear it from someone else before it clicks.  It is a process that doesn’t happen overnight, but if you do these 5 things you will see a difference in yourself and over time in your life.

What are some things  that you’ve to change yourself in order to change your life?
